MSK ULTRASOUND

A Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound is a specialized exam that looks specifically at your muscles and joints. MSK ultrasound technologists have special training in looking at muscles, some ligaments, nerves, and tendons. A radiologist will interpret these images to determine if they are normal or not.




How to Prepare for a Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

No preparation is required but you may need to change into a gown for the procedure.

Wear loose fitting and easily removable clothing

.Leave jewelry at home if possible.


How long does a musculoskeletal ultrasound take?


Musculoskeletal ultrasound examination is usually completed within 15 to 30 minutes but may occasionally take longer. When the exam is complete, you may be asked to dress and wait while the ultrasound images are reviewed. After an ultrasound examination, you should be able to resume your normal activities immediately.
